Stephen Graduated from the Former Royal Manchester College of Music where he studied with Colin Horsley And Ryszard Bakst of Warsaw, gaining distinction in performance and teaching and earning various awards such as the Rothschild and Martin Trust scholarships.
Stephen was a finalist in the 1971 BBC Piano Competition and a prize winner at Gian Baptista International Piano competition in Vercelli, Italy in 1972.
He has a particular affinity with French music and has given highly acclaimed recitals at London Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Room, Vienna Conservatoire and the Hague, Holland, plus many BBC Broadcasts. With several British orchestras, he has performed the piano concertos of Schumann, Rachmaninov II, Chopin I and Franck Symphonic Variations. As accompanist he has enjoyed a long association with Clonter Opera and with the RNCM where he also coaches chamber music and piano. Stephen also regularly performs in duo recitals and is an accompanist for several choral societies.
